Location The community of Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club was first established in 1993. It is a community of approximately 700 homes in a peaceful, private, gated community on a beautiful PGA 4½ star golf course modelled on St. Andrews, and recently ranked number 6 in Florida. Southern Dunes is an established community with a mix of vacation homes and owner occupied homes. The active residents association focuses on maintaining and improving the community. The roads are quiet, and it is safe to walk or jog around. The area includes lakes, trees and greens, giving a very pleasant environment and a relaxed feel to the area. The residents are very friendly. Southern Dunes is conveniently situated off US Highway 27, about 5 minutes from junction 55 of the I4, less than 20 minutes drive from Walt Disney World and about 1 hour from the beaches of the Gulf Coast. Busch Gardens is about 1 hour's drive away. Community facilities include 3 communal swimming pools; tennis and basketball courts; fitness suite and children's play areas with swings and slides. There is also a fishing lake. The community is gated for your added security, the gates being manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The golf club and course is open to the public and there is also a driving range, putting green and pro golf shop. It is advisable to book golf in advance, as Southern Dunes is a very popular course with tourists and locals. The clubhouse has a bar and a restaurant, which serves breakfast and lunches at reasonable prices. A children's menu is available, and after a drink in the evening, it's only a few minutes walk back to the villa. And you don't have to play golf to use the club! A whole variety of restaurants from Burger King and Taco Bell to Chinese and Pizza Hut to name but a few are located nearby. Supermarkets (a huge 24 hour Wal-Mart and a Winn-Dixie), plus other shops, Blockbuster video/DVD rental, restaurants, banks, and petrol station are situated just outside the gates. For more serious shopping, Eagle Ridge Mall is a short drive. Rates Rental price is per week - for the house, not per person! The pool heater is extra (£80), but is not needed for the summer months. Discounts available for a third week and late availability bookings.
